Trigger Warnings

For those who might need them here are the trigger warnings for club books. We will specify if they are integral to the story or mentions that you could skip over if you need to. Whilst we do our best, this list may not be comprehensive as triggers can be so diverse and personal. You should also assume that all books are likely to contain themes of death and/or violence due to the nature of the genre.

October 2024 - End of Story:  Integral to plot - metal health hospitalisation, suicide, death of a child. Mentions of childlessness.

November 2024 - The Lost Cause: Integral to the plot - climate anxiety. Frequently mentioned - drug use (cannabis) and alcohol use.

December 2024 - The Final Orchad: Integral to the plot - accidental death of a child, mild body horror. Mentions of alcohol abuse.

January 2025 - Wake Up & Open Your Eyes: Integral to plot - body horror, violence and injury detail, sexual content.  Mentions - death of a pet.

February 2025 - The Mars House: Nothing specific this month, just a normal level of peril, violence and injustice for the genre.

March 2025 - The Family Experiment: Integral to plot - child death, human trafficking, fertility & pregnancy issues, drug abuse.
Mentions of cancer, gambling addiction.

April 2025: Traumatic birth.

“This is what we do. We make tea and read books and watch people die.”
